Jeff Garlin to Appear in Final Season of Netflix’s Never Have I Ever

Former Goldbergs star Jeff Garlin has joined the cast of Never Have I Ever. After premiering its first season in 2020, the Mindy Kaling and Lang Fisher-created series is set to debut its fourth and final season in 2023. Per Deadline, it’s now been revealed that the new episodes will feature Garlin as a new character. This marks the first casting to come for Garlin since his exit amid controversy from The Goldbergs at ABC.

Details have also been revealed about Garlin’s character. He will play Len, a “sweet man who fixes a mean sandwich and who makes Nirmala (Ranjita Chakravarty) reconsider if she really is done with relationships forever.”

It wasn’t clear where Garlin would turn up next after he was written out of The Goldbergs. Last year, producers announced that Garlin was leaving from his starring role on the series in the midst of season 9. This came after allegations of misconduct behind the scenes. The Goldbergs moved forward with season 10 by explaining that Garlin’s character had been killed off. Garlin announced on social media that he was bipolar shortly after that episode aired.

“Bipolar is a motherf***er,” Garlin said in the post. “Sometimes it’s just too much to deal with. I’m doing the best I can. This the first time that I’ve opened up about this.”

Inspired by Mindy Kaling’s childhood, Never Have I Ever is a coming of age dramedy series following an Indian-American high school student following the sudden death of her father. The show stars Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, Poorna Jagannathan, Richa Moorjani, Darren Barnet, Jaren Lewison, John McEnroe, Ramona Young, and Lee Rodriguez.

“We can’t wait to reveal all the steamy romance and hilarious adventures we have in store for you,” Kaling said in a statement when the show was renewed for its fourth and final season. “Thanks to all our fans for your support – especially you Bevi and Daxton fans.”

“Four seasons of Never Have I Ever is truly exciting and a little bittersweet because, as a loyal fan, I’d love Devi’s journey to go on forever,” Universal TV President Erin Underhill also said. “But just like high school, all great things must come to an end. A big shout out to our fearless Cricket Queens, Mindy and Lang, and our exceptional cast and crew, who have authentically captured the emotional rollercoaster ride that defines our teenage years. We can’t wait to experience all of the messiness, the LOLs and the tears that will surely unfold in Devi’s senior year.”

Never Have I Ever doesn’t yet have a premiere date for season 4, but it will arrive sometime in 2023. You can stream the first three seasons on Netflix. You can get a peek at the show’s final season by watching th coming soon video from Netflix below.
