WWE ring announcer Lilian Garcia has credited Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson for securing her a massive opportunity in the Stamford-based company. Having made several appearances at WWE events, Garcia has been on top of her work for several years. She recently recalled how she got started in the wrestling industry.
Garcia later revealed The Rock got her to open the live shows. “He’s [The Rock] the reason I got to sing the national anthem on the show,” Garcia said on an episode of Insight with Chris Van Vliet, as per multiple outlets. “He’s one of the first ones that friended me. So I told him a little bit about me, and singing came up. He’s like, ‘Oh, you sing?’ I’m like, Yeah,” she added.
Garcia opened up about how The Rock propelled her to ask WWE’s producers for an opportunity to sing.
“He The Rock said to me, ‘Hey, you know what? Every weekend we play the national anthem as an instrumental before we go out there. Why don’t you talk to the producers to see if you can sing it?” she said.
