Following the announcement that Henry Cavill will not be returning as Superman, some of his co-stars such as Jason Momoa and Zachary Levi reacted to his farewell post on social media.
Cavill shared a video in October after the release of Black Adam, saying that he was officially back as Superman and that his cameo was “just a very small taste of things to come.”
However, after the news recently broke of James Gunn and Peter Safran’s plans to craft a story around a younger adaptation of the Man of Steel, many fans and celebrities alike immediately began reaching out to Cavill to offer their support to him.James Gunn recently revealed that the upcoming slate of DCU films would include Superman, but that Henry Cavill wouldn’t be the one to don the cape.
Following that news, Cavill took to Instagram to share his reaction and express his thoughts. In the comments of the post, some of his co-stars and fellow names around the entertainment industry showed their support and encouragement for him.
Aquaman actor Jason Momoa, who has been known to support Cavill in the past, said “love u brother” and left a few heart emojis at the end of his comment.
Zachary Levi, who portrays Shazam in the DCEU, said “hope to catch you in another universe, sir.”
Black Adam producer Dany Garcia, who was heavily involved with Dwayne Johnson in getting Cavill’s cameo in the final cut of the film, said that Cavill will “always be” Superman:World-famous movie star Christopher Lloyd, known for his role in Back to the Future, told Cavill “You were wonderful in this role.”
Actor Kumail Nanjiani, who starred in Marvel Studios’ Eternals, let Cavill know that he is “excited to see whatever (he) does next:”Quintessa Swindell, who played Cyclone in Black Adam, also voiced her support for the former Superman actor, saying “Will always be the greatest.”
Natalie Viscuso, who is Cavill’s girlfriend, also commented saying “Always the gentleman.”Fans have been questioning the chances of Cavill returning as Superman for over a year now. When the actor made a cameo appearance in Black Adam, and then followed it up with an announcement video encouraging fans that he was back, it seemed like the questions finally had a definitive answer.
However, the answer has now shifted in a totally different direction, but that doesn’t mean that Cavill is totally out of the picture.The biggest chunk of news that Gunn revealed via Twitter was that Cavill would not be returning as Superman. He also stated that he and Safran are “big fans” of the actor and that their meeting included discussions about “exciting possibilities” for Cavill “in the future.”
If Gunn was totally out on including Cavill in their future plans, he would not have made that statement. It is obvious that there could definitely be a place for the star at some point down the line if he wishes to come back to the realm of DC.
